Conditions We Evaluate and Treat
Neck Pain
Neck pain can come from a disc problem, nerve irritation, joint degeneration, or soft tissue injury, and the right approach depends on what’s actually driving it. We evaluate neck pain through clinical examination and, when appropriate, diagnostic imaging, and then discuss interventional and minimally invasive treatment options that fit your situation.
Shoulder Pain
The shoulder is one of the more complex joints in the body, and shoulder pain can have many potential sources: rotator cuff injuries, tendinopathy, bursitis, labral problems, and joint degeneration, among them. We specialize in interventional and regenerative approaches that address the underlying issue, not just the symptom.
Hand & Wrist Pain
From tendon injuries and nerve compression to arthritis and overuse conditions, hand and wrist problems affect daily function in ways that are hard to work around. We evaluate these conditions thoroughly and discuss targeted, minimally invasive options when appropriate.
Low Back Pain
Low back pain is one of the most common reasons people seek orthopedic care and one of the most undertreated, because the source is often unclear without a proper evaluation. We approach back pain with a focus on accurate diagnosis first, appropriate and optimal rehabilitation, then interventional options that address disc, joint, or nerve-related causes.
Hip & SI Joint Pain
Hip pain and sacroiliac (SI) joint dysfunction are frequently misidentified or lumped together with low back pain. Getting the diagnosis right matters because the treatment for a labral issue, gluteal tendinopathy, or SI joint problem is different. We have the diagnostic tools and experience to sort that out.
Knee & Leg Pain
Knee pain from arthritis, meniscal injury, tendinopathy, or ligament problems is something we see and treat regularly. We discuss non-operative options, including regenerative medicine and interventional approaches, for patients who want to avoid or delay surgery, and we coordinate with orthopedic surgeons when surgical care is the right next step.
Foot & Ankle
Plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, ankle sprains, and other foot and ankle conditions can significantly limit mobility and activity. We evaluate these conditions in the context of your full lower extremity and discuss treatment options, including shockwave therapy and other interventional approaches, when appropriate.
How We Approach Musculoskeletal Care
Regardless of the condition, our process starts the same way: a thorough specialty evaluation.
We don’t lead with a procedure. We start by understanding your symptoms, reviewing your history and any prior imaging, and determining what’s actually contributing to your problem. Then we walk you through your options honestly, without pressure to choose any particular treatment.
Most orthopedic conditions are manageable without surgery. Our physicians are trained in interventional and minimally invasive approaches, including X-ray and ultrasound-guided injections, nerve ablation procedures, regenerative medicine, shockwave therapy, and medical laser, and we use these tools when they’re clinically appropriate for your case.
If surgery or a referral to another specialist is the right answer, we’ll tell you that too, and make sure you get to the right place.
What Makes Our Care Different
Fellowship-Trained Physicians
Every evaluation at High Desert Sports & Spine is led by board-certified, fellowship-trained physicians. That level of specialty training is worth knowing about; it’s not the standard everywhere in Bend.
Timely Access
Same-week appointments are typically available for new patients. You don’t need a referral, and you won’t wait months to be seen.
Advanced Diagnostic and Treatment Tools
We use musculoskeletal ultrasound for both diagnosis and image-guided procedures. On-site X-ray and a full range of interventional treatment options mean we can evaluate and treat many conditions in one place.
Coordinated Care
We work closely with physical therapists, orthopedic surgeons, and primary care providers throughout Central Oregon. When your condition needs someone else’s expertise, we coordinate that handoff.
Not Sure Where to Start?
If you’re not certain which condition category fits your situation, that’s okay. Our team can help you figure out the right next step.
We serve patients across Central Oregon: Bend, Redmond, Sisters, Prineville, La Pine, and Sunriver, with same-week availability for new patient evaluations.
